Alexandra School is maintained and
funded by the London Borough of Harrow and admissions are managed
by Harrow Education Department who make referrals to us.
Pupils at this school
will normally have had a full assessment of their special educational
needs and will have a Statement. Some
children come to the school at four or five years of age and this
will be their first school. Others come after a period in mainstream
school.
Once a referral has been made we will read all the papers and if
we think we could meet the child’s needs, we will invite him
or her to spend one or two half days with us before we make a final
decision.
Entry arrangements are flexible and children can join us at any
time in the school year once a placement has been agreed.
Some children spend part of their time at a mainstream school. This
can be appropriate, particularly when there is a possibility that
a child will be moving back to mainstream school on a full time
basis.
Places can be scarce at Alexandra and we apologise to parents who
want their child to come here but who find the school is full.
