Promoting Positive Behaviour

Positive achievement and positive behaviour go hand in hand. We have clear rules, expectations and boundaries which we expect all children to accept. We call them Golden Rules. These rules and boundaries support the rights of children to be able to learn in an environment where individuals are treated with respect and dignity.

The Golden Rules
Do be gentle
Do be kind and helpful
Do listen
Do work hard
Do look after property
Do be honest

We have the Golden Rules up in every classroom so that the whole school can live under the same umbrella of agreed and commonly held values. Anybody, child or adult, in the school can invoke the rules. Everybody, child or adult, knows they must abide by these rules. They are clear and unequivocal. Furthermore they help children who must sometimes feel as if the world is full incomprehensible rules. Instead of the school having a million rules, there are only six. The same six for everyone.
